For server admins

Two minutes of setup, then Wordlord stays out of the way.

1. Add the bot

Add Wordlord to Discord and pick your server. It asks for these permissions:

  • View Channels, Read Message History: to notice words being said.
  • Send Messages, Embed Links, Attach Files: for replies, cards and title deeds.
  • Add Reactions, Use External Emojis: the 🔍 reaction on finds and its own emoji set.
  • Manage Messages: only to pin its info card in the home channel.

Wordlord reads chat in channels it can see. To keep it out of a channel, remove its View Channel permission there.

2. Pick a home channel

Run /setup channel #channel. That channel becomes Wordlord's home, the only place it posts on its own:

  • A pinned welcome card that explains the game, with a menu of help sections.
  • The Daily Landlord digest each morning (UTC): landlord of the day, the hottest word, takeovers, evictions and the day's Lost Deed riddles.
  • The Gavel, a 10-minute live auction for a prime word, daily at 15:00 UTC (twice a day in Eviction Week). It needs a few players in the server.
  • The season's hall of fame, and the news when your server goes global.

Chat in every channel still counts for the game. /setup channel with no channel turns these posts off; the game keeps running.

3. Block words if you need to

Slurs and NSFW words are blocked everywhere already. To stop a word from being owned in your server (an inside joke you'd rather keep free, or someone's name), use /setup block word. If someone owns it, it's taken back. /setup unblock word undoes it.

4. Name your own street

/setup street name:Meme Lane words:rizz gyatt skibidi creates a street of 3–8 of your server's own words. It works like the built-in streets: whoever owns all of it pays 30% less tax on it.

5. Decide on the casino

The games (flip, slots, blackjack, dice and the wheel) are off until you turn them on with /setup games on. They use play money only, but some communities would rather not have casino games at all, so the choice is yours. /setup games off closes them again.

What Wordlord won't do

  • Reply to every message. It reacts to finds and answers commands, nothing more.
  • Store your members' messages. See Privacy.
  • Take coins from people who don't play. Non-players chat freely.
